100 Good Wishes Quilt

To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a "Bai Jai Bei", or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is a custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth with a wish for the new baby. Part of the cloth goes into the quilt, and the other part will go into a creative memory book with the wish made for the baby. The quilt contains the prayers and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.

I invite you to join in our "Bai Jia Bei" project by contributing one 10" square of fabric IN ANY SHADE/Pattern OF PINK, PINK & WHITE and a wish or prayer for our precious daughter. (I know this is different than most but my favorite color is pink, her Jie Jie's favorite color is pink & her room will be you guessed it PINK) In working to keep her culture and background very alive in her life and in her home, we felt that she would enjoy this special keepsake when she is older and can see how many people joined in the prayers to bring her home. Along with the fabric, please send her a "good wish", prayer, or anything you would like to share with her on piece of paper or notecard along with a matching swatch of cloth. Also, if you have a family photo to send to include in her album, that would be great to put names & faces together & see how loved & thought about she is!

Thank you for participating and contributing to our quilt project. I know in the years to come she will treasure each and every one of you for being a part of her journey home!

This quilt will be fun to put together during our wait and even more fun to receive squares in the mail along with a prayer or wish. Note though, if you are sending any flannel 100% cotton, please wash and dry before cutting. I have found that shrinking occurs very badly with flannel.

Please send them to address below and let me know if you want an exchange square as well, I will be happy to send one for your little blessing also:
